The search is on for a man who Moore police say is using a device to steal credit card numbers from customers at metro gas stations, and then start racking up charges.

Turns out, the same device used to swipe your card, could be making a copy of it. Police said that's what they believe one man is doing, and he's still at it.

They're hoping someone recognizes him in surveillance photos.

Meanwhile, while you're at the pump police want you to keep an eye out. They said the suspected thief has his eye on your bank card, especially at area gas stations.

“He continues to use the numbers, so as far as how many numbers he has, it's really tough to tell,” said Sgt. Jeremy Lewis, Moore P.D.

Sgt. Lewis said the man could have multiple stolen credit card numbers, and he said criminals won't stop until your bank account is emptied, or they're caught.

“This type of crime can cause a lot of damage very quickly financially,” said Lewis.

Detectives believe the suspect may be a skimmer, criminals who use fake card swipe machines to steal your credit card information at gas pumps and ATMs alike.

“They're able to do it without anyone knowing,” said Lewis.

But investigators also believe the man is buying stolen credit card information on an illegal website and then using it to make a fake credit card.

They said that stolen information is being used to purchase $200 gift cards at area Walgreen's so the accused thief can turn around and sell them for cash.

“The people that do this, they've got knowledge on how to do this and how to make credit cards and different things like that,” said Lewis.

Police are actively looking for the guy. If you recognize him in the surveillance photos call the Moore Police Department.
