Bre McDonald scored 16 points in her first start to help West Virginia upset No. 21 Oklahoma State 61-49 on Saturday.

A new starting lineup for the Mountaineers paid off with McDonald, a 6-foot sophomore who came in averaging 4.3 points per game, eclipsing her previous career high of nine. Linda Stepney added 15, including nine straight free throws late, and Bria Holmes had her first double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Lanay Montgomery grabbed 12 of WVU's 52 rebounds and blocked six shots.

The Cowgirls (12-4, 2-3 Big 12) shot just 28.8 percent, including 2 of 14 from long distance. They went scoreless over a span of 4:39 when WVU built 56-42 lead with 1:26 left. LaShawn Jones scored 12 points in Oklahoma State's first home loss this season.

WVU (11-6, 1-4) scored its first victory over a Top 25 team since beating Baylor last March.
