According to police, at about 5 a.m. Sunday, January 4, Quinton Thompson, 4, became missing from his home and officers immediately began searching for him. The child's mother told News 9 she went out with some friends Saturday night and her mother was watching Quinton. But she said when she got back to her home just before 5 a.m. Sunday, Quinton was gone.

At about 11 a.m., police said they learned that the child was safe and had been dropped off at a southeast Oklahoma City convenience store. Officers spoke with the clerk and learned that a man walked into the store and turned the child over, telling the clerk to call police. The man then left the store before police could speak with him.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., police released surveillance photos of a man dropping Quinton off inside the convenience store. Quickly, officers identified the man as 56-year-old George White of Del City. Investigators spoke with him and ultimately arrested him for kidnapping.

According to court records, White told police he came to the boy's house looking for a woman named Molly, who the boy's mother admitted used to live there.

White admitted to Oklahoma City police that he took little Quinton to a friend's apartment in Del City located near S.E. 29th Street and Vickie Drive, instead of checking around for any adults.

White said he kept the child with him for six hours before dropping him off at a nearby convenience store.

White is being held in the Oklahoma County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
