A Norman couple said they want a metro man brought to justice.

Their autistic son was left outside in his car seat after the couple's car was stolen with the boy inside.

Christy and Steffon Wilcox hope 3-year-old Daniel's shrieks of laughter eventually drown the memory of his terrifying screams last week.

“Anger and confusion, just like freaking out, like panic. I have no idea where my son is,” said Christy Wilcox.

Christy and her husband have two roommates.

One of them took Christy to a doctor's appointment in Norman on Jan. 5.

Christy said Daniel is autistic and does not like doctor's offices, so he stayed in the car with the roommate.

When Christy came back out from her appointment, she said her car was gone.

She first thought they had gone to McDonald's or ran an errand, but then she realized something was wrong when the roommate, Zachary Mullins, would not answer her calls or texts.

Mullins goes by the name Lee.

“I was like, 'Lee, just keep the car, keep my money, keep my phone, I do not care, just bring me back my child,'” Wilcox explained.

When the Wilcoxes called Norman police, the officers showed the parents a picture of a boy found in El Reno.

It was Daniel.

A nail salon owner had stepped out back for a cigarette and found Daniel strapped in his car seat in 35-degree weather behind the shopping center.

“There were so many opportunities for them to leave him somewhere safe, somewhere warm, why there?” Steffon Wilcox wondered. “Why there unless he wasn't meant to be found?”

Norman police said they are looking for Mullins and the parents want him caught before another child gets hurt.

“I don't understand how somebody could do that to a child, anybody,” Steffon Wilcox told News 9. “I have a problem with people dumping dogs and that's a child,” he cringed.

“I want to see them pay for what they did,” Christy Wilcox added. “He could have died and I want them to be prosecuted to the full,” she said.

Authorities said Mullins has a warrant out for his arrest for child endangerment.

Police said they are still trying to confirm if the Wilcoxes' female roommate, who was dating Mullins, also played a role in what happened to Daniel.
