DEL CITY, Oklahoma -

A possible attempted kidnapping has the Mid-Del school district sending out warnings to some parents. Police are investigating.

There have been no abductions, but the police and school officials are looking into a suspicious situation that startled students enough to report it.

For a couple of students their trip home scared them enough to contact authorities and that's when the school sent out this recorded message to parents.

“Parents, two students one from Del City Elementary and one from Del City High School were walking toward Kerr Middle School Monday afternoon, and were approached by a man asking if they needed a ride.”

News 9 talked with Del City Police and they said there is a possibility that someone was simply offering the children a ride on a cold day, however, they still have to take the case seriously and said they are investigating.

Meanwhile, school officials warned parents to educate their children about similar situations. They even provided a description of the person of interest.

“The suspect is described as a Caucasian male approximately 40 to 50 years old, 160 to 170 pounds with long sideburns wearing a black hat, and sunglasses. He was driving a red Chevrolet Malibu with a dent on the right front side.”

If you may have witnessed this incident or have a child who experienced a similar one, contact the Del City Police Department.
