OKLAHOMA CITY -

We may not have seen a white Christmas - or even much of a cold one - this year, but a cold front has brought familiar winter temperatures and a wintry mix to central Oklahoma Saturday morning.

The snow has been falling across the Oklahoma City metro area and meteorologists said it will likely persist through the noon hour.

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a winter weather advisory for several counties, including Oklahoma, Logan, Canadian counties and more, until 12 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, the main impact of this weather event will be accumulating snow of one to three inches. Other impacts include reduced visibilities of 1/2 to 1/4 mile along with slick spots on bridges.

Officials urge Oklahomans to be careful if they have to travel. Even small amounts of snow can make roads and sidewalks slick and dangerous.

Oklahoma Department of Transportation released a road conditions update at 2:30 p.m. ODOT crews are clearing highways in counties south and east of the Oklahoma City area, and will continue into the night as necessary.

Highways are wet and drying in the Oklahoma City metro area as crews continue final clearing of shoulders and monitoring bridges into the evening.

Crews are clearing the light accumulation of snow and treating slick spots on highways in Delaware, Mayes and Ottawa counties, as well as treating bridges and overpasses in the Tulsa metro area.

Drivers should be aware of slick spots, particularly on highway bridges, overpasses and highway exit/entrance ramps. Drivers who do travel should allow extra space between vehicles, so there is adequate distance for braking in wet and icy conditions.

If drivers must travel out of state, they are urged to check area road conditions before heading out.
