The Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) and OK Foster Wishes are asking for some last-minute donations to ensure all children in foster care receive Christmas presents.
DHS partnered with OK Foster Wishes this year to provide thousands of children in foster care with Christmas gifts.
A wish list was made for each child with specific gifts that child needed or wanted.
OK Foster Wishes distributed those wish lists statewide to organizations and citizens wanting to help purchase the gifts for children.
While most of the wish lists have been filled and returned, unfortunately, there are a few hundred that still have not yet been turned in, leaving DHS staff and OK Foster Wishes scrambling to pull together donations for those children.
“OK Foster Wishes has done an amazing job this year distributing Christmas wish lists and collecting gifts for the children we serve,” said Sheree Powell, Director of Communications. “And we appreciate all the generous Oklahomans who have already stepped up and filled a child's wish list. Unfortunately, not all the wish lists have been filled and returned, leaving many children around the state for whom we will need to buy gifts.”
Those wanting to help can do so by donating online to OKfosterwishes.com. Money raised will help ensure all children in foster care receive Christmas gifts.
