About 150 airmen are scheduled to return to Oklahoma City on Friday and Saturday following a four-month deployment in Southwest Asia.

According to officials, about 100 airmen from the 552nd Air Control Wing, “America's Wing,” are scheduled to return to Tinker AFB at about 11 a.m. Saturday, December 20, from a four-month deployment to Southwest Asia in support of on-going operations in the Central Command area of operations.

Officials said 52 more airmen are returning via commercial airliners into Will Rogers World Airport on Friday, December 19, between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.

The 552nd Air Control Wing personnel and aircraft provide all weather surveillance and communications needed by commanders of U.S. and NATO air defense forces to detect, identify, and track fixed-wing aircraft, maritime surface vessels, and to direct friendly aircraft against the enemy before they release ordnance against friendly forces.

The 552nd ACW has had a continuing presence in the region since 1980.
