An Oklahoma City man is behind bars accused of raping a 15-year-old girl and holding her captive for over a week.

Officers responded to a rape call at an apartment complex located in the 5700 block of NW 19th St. after 8 p.m. on Monday. Police met with the alleged victim and her mother. The suspect in the case, 32-year-old Chris Gatewood, was not apprehended until early Tuesday morning.

Police later learned that the girl had run away from home on Dec. 4. The mother said she knew where her daughter was and had been in contact with her until Dec. 7, when the lines of communication suddenly stopped. The mom filled out a runaway juvenile report on Dec. 10.

At first the girl told police she was with a friend. But on Dec. 6, while eating at a fast food restaurant, she said she met Gatewood and agreed to hang out with him at his apartment that night. She said she told Gatewood she was 15 and that he told her he was 19.

From late Dec. 6 until the time police responded to the apartment complex on Dec. 15, the girl told police she was being held against her will by Gatewood. During that time the girl claims Gatewood choked her multiple times, hit her, threatened her with a knife and a taser and raped her twice.

On Dec. 15, the girl texted the address of the apartment to several members of her family and asked them to come get her. Her mother responded and that's when police got involved.

Police finally located and arrested Gatewood at 12:39 a.m. on Tuesday. He was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of Kidnapping and First-Degree Rape. Each count carried a bond of $100,000.
