Police say a Catoosa grandfather is being questioned for shooting his 25-year-old grandson on Friday night.

The grandson was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, but there is a visible exit wound, according to investigators.

Catoosa police said the family has a history of fighting, and they are familiar with the feuds because of multiple calls to the home in the 1700 block of North 161st East Avenue.

The infighting never has escalated to gun violence, until now, officers said.

According to police chief Kevin McKim, the grandfather said he felt his life was threatened, and that's why he fired a .380 automatic pistol.

"We've had calls out here before, and we've dealt with the grandson," McKim said.

"Last six or seven months it's been real quiet out here. Again, I don't know what caused all this tonight, but that'll be my investigator's job to find out what led up to all this."
