An Oklahoma City man was arrested after his 11-month-old child was found alone inside their home.

According to police, at about 1 a.m. on Saturday, officers responded to the report of an abandoned child at a home in the 2900 block of S.W. 23rd Street.

A man who identified himself as the grandfather of the infant told police that the infant's father, 39-year-old Harold Spriggs, had asked him if he could feed his animals over the weekend while he's out of town.

Spriggs reportedly left his house at about 10 p.m. Friday. And the child's grandfather went to Spriggs' house at about 11 p.m. That's when he found Spriggs' baby alone in the crib in her bedroom.

The grandfather said he attempted to contact Spriggs and was unsuccessful. Police said Spriggs returned to the home at about 2 a.m. He admitted to police that he had left his child unattended, and that he had gone to the casino for a couple hours and had several beers.

Spriggs was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on one count of child neglect. The child was released to a relative.
