Police have identified a suspect who was shot and killed by officers following a pursuit in northeast Oklahoma City, Sunday night.

According to police, at about 8:30 p.m., officers attempted to pull over a vehicle in the area of N.E. 28th and Laird. However, the driver, later identified as 39-year-old Jerry Nowlin, refused to stop for officers. Instead, police said he continued driving eastbound on N.E. 28th and then southbound on Kelley.

Police said the suspect vehicle then turned east on N.E. 26th and crashed into the north fence of the Heritage Pointe Apartments. Nowlin got out of his vehicle and ran south through the complex.

As officers pursued on foot, police said Nowlin brandished a firearm and pointed it at the officers. The officers then discharged their weapons and shot Nowlin.

Nowlin was transported to an area hospital, where he died just before 11 p.m.

The two officers involved in the shooting, Sgt. Christopher Grimes and Sgt. Joshua Castlebury, were both placed on routine administrative leave pending a complete investigation.

According to police, a firearm was recovered in Nowlin's possession, in addition to several grams of marijuana and cocaine.
