NORMAN, Oklahoma - Tragedy happened on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman Friday evening.

As fans got ready to celebrate Bedlam, an accident claimed a life.

An elderly woman died and an investigation is underway.

Police only released few details about the accident.

Tape marked off different tailgating areas, but another kind of tape marked a crime scene.

It happened Friday evening as Bedlam fans from all over the state poured into Norman to set up camp near the stadium.

In an RV area just east of the stadium is where police said an 80-year-old woman was run over and killed by an RV.

Just a day before the bright lights on the field flip on, detectives scoured the scene with flashlights looking for clues as to how this happened and interviewing anyone who may have seen it.

OU President David Boren released this statement:

"The University community is saddened by this tragic accident."
