YUKON, Oklahoma -

For the first time, News 9 heard what happened inside a Yukon home targeted in two drive-by shootings. One of the mothers said she is living with the fear that the shooter will return.

The mother called this week a "nightmare" following the two attacks within 24 hours on her home.

“I don't know why. We've never done nothing to the point where you would have somebody come to a home not one time, but twice and shoot a house with six children and our babies in a house,” said the mother.

She said it's been three sleepless nights for her family.

“You have six kids that are completely distraught, that cannot sleep, that are wondering why their house was shot at, why were there so many police outside,” she said. “Are they coming back?”

According to her, it started Tuesday just before 9 p.m. Another mother, who lives in the same home, called her in a panic after she and neighbors heard what they call gun shots.

“The police looked around. They drove around they said that they didn't see anybody there ... that if we hear anything else to please contact them back,” the mother said.

Less than 24 hours later, Yukon police were back out at the home.

A boy and the other mother were taking out the trash and missed the gunfire by a matter of seconds.

“Within 10 seconds of her shutting the door there was a very loud pop, pop, pop. Three times I heard at the door.”

She caught a black two-door Ford Explorer speeding off, but not before someone fired off several more shots at the home. Police have a car matching the description and a person of interest. The woman told News 9 that person of interest is one the boy's uncles.

“There's bullets in my house. There's a bullet shot above my door,” she said.

The two families continued to seek refuge in friends' homes.

“I don't think that it's safe for us to go home. It's not even a home anymore.”

Detectives said samples from the SUV in question were sent to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations crime lab to be processed.

Yukon police said they now have more officers patrolling the area for the family's safety.
