A woman accused of breaking into a car with a metal bar told Oklahoma City police she was “just trying to get somewhere warm.”

According to police, at about 8 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the report of an armed robbery in the 1500 block of N.W. 1st Street. When they arrived, they saw a man holding a woman down on the ground.

Witnesses told police that the woman, later identified as 39-year-old Meair Scheuer, had broken into a vehicle with a metal bar. Police said Scheuer repeatedly apologized while she was being arrested.

According to police, Scheuer voluntarily said that she was “just trying to get somewhere warm,” and that she “didn't mean to hurt anyone.” She also told police that she “has never tried to break into a car before until now.”

Scheuer was arrested and booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon. She is being held on $20,000 bond.
