The NAACP will take part in a "Journey for Justice" march Saturday in Oklahoma City. It begins at 1 p.m. at the corner of Northeast 23rd and Martin Luther King Drive and will end at the Governor's Mansion.

The walk is in response to a grand jury's decision not to indict Missouri police officer Darren Wilson in the death of 18-year-old Michael Brown Jr. in Ferguson.

"This will be a peaceful protest," said Anthony R. Douglas, President of the Oklahoma NAACP.

"We're inviting the students and anybody with a musical instrument to come out and join us on this march. We're not just making a march of chanting; we're making a march of unity."

The group's web page says the march is calling for reforms in police practices and culture in both Ferguson, Missouri and across the country.

"We stand committed to continue our fight against racial profiling, police brutality and the militarization of local authorities," NAACP President Cornell William Brooks said.

The local Journey for Justice march is part of a seven-day protest that will take place in Ferguson, the web site states.
