Many of us will get to enjoy a big dinner with family on Thanksgiving Day, but for thousands of Oklahomans, they cannot afford to do so. Now, community members and a group of local restaurants are changing that.

Guests of the Day Shelter on the Westtown Homeless Resource Campus will receive an early Thanksgiving lunch on Wednesday, thanks to the community, local restaurants and businesses.

According to event organizers, community members donated 80 turkeys, and volunteers will use the special ovens at Culinary Kitchen (which can roast a turkey in 45 minutes) to cook the turkeys. Local restaurants including Rococo, Coach House, Ranch Steakhouse, Elemental Coffee and R&J Lounge will be providing the side dishes.

About 200 to 300 guests experiencing homelessness will get to enjoy the lunch from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Day Shelter on the Westtown Homeless Resource Campus, located at 1724 N.W. 3rd Street.
