My 2 Cents: Violent Ferguson Protests

Something makes you mad at work, do you suddenly have carte blanche to throw your colleague's computer across the office?

I watched the rioting and destruction last night in Ferguson Missouri following the grand jury's decision, and I was stunned to say the least.

A lot of good hard-working people of all races had their businesses and their jobs stolen from them last night, and it was so predictable.

I absolutely support the people's right to protest, but when did we get to the point that we just throw our hands up and say, "Well they're angry, and sometimes when you're angry you torch cars and burn stores, best just to stand back and let them get it out of their system?"

That's a dangerous breakdown in authority.

Missouri should have flooded those streets with lawmen last night and taken every last violent protester and looting opportunist straight to jail and then before a judge.

That was a failure of leadership.

I understand that people were concerned about escalating the situation with more police force when it was an officer involved shooting that set off the rioting to begin with.

But what we watched on TV last night was unacceptable, it was un-American, not the protests, the lawlessness, and I guarantee it will embolden other people to do it again.

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's My 2 Cents.
