Oklahoma State wanted to send its seniors out with a bang. Instead, it was more of the same for the struggling Cowboys.

Texas jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, suffocating OSU 28-7 on senior night in Stillwater.

The first 30 minutes were downright embarrassing for the Pokes. It was the first time the Cowboys were shutout in a first half in Stillwater since 2005 against Colorado. OSU converted just two first downs to Texas' 17, while gaining only 51 yards of total offense to Texas' 263.

Texas forced a three-and-out, then marched right down the field on a 10-play, 57-yard drive and took a 6-0 lead on a Tyrone Swoopes-to-John Harris 19-yard score. The Longhorns wasted no time extending that lead, capping a nine-play, 81-yard drive with a Jonathan Gray six-yard score with a little more than two to play in the opening quarter.

The OSU defense solidified after that, but Texas still managed two field goals thanks to great field position.

The 19-0 halftime deficit was too much for the inept OSU offense to overcome.

The Cowboys got a late touchdown when Daxx Garman found James Washington for an eight-yard score, but that was the lone highlight of the night.

Garman finished with 158 passing yards, a touchdown and a pick. Garman was sacked seven times behind an offensive line that continued to struggle. Desmond Roland was the Cowboys' leading rusher with five carries for 21 yards. OSU ran 23 times for 34 total yards.

“We're not quite physical enough up front to handle those guys,” coach Mike Gundy said of his line. “They manhandled us, and it makes it difficult to function.”

Quarterback Tyrone Swoopes led the Longhorns with 305 yards and a pair of scores. Jonathan Gray carried 16 times for 81 yards and a score, while Harris hauled in nine balls for 117 yards.

OSU's four-game losing streak is its longest since Gundy's first season at the helm. Gundy explained afterward that there's not much the Cowboys can do other than continue to improve.

“You come back to work. As coaches, we have to put our pride aside and look at game plans, identify where we made good decisions, made poor decisions, and try to put the players in the best opportunity for success. You just keep working.”

The Cowboys (5-5, 3-4) will travel to Baylor next Saturday and take another shot at bowl eligibility. The Bears (8-1, 5-1) will likely look to hang as many points as possible on the Cowboys as they pursue a spot in the College Football Playoff.
