Scammer Targets Edmond Electric Customers

Authorities said several Edmond Electric customers recently received phone calls claiming that utilities will be disconnected if a large bill is not paid. In each reported case, the out-of-state caller falsely identified themselves as a representative from Oklahoma Gas & Electric (OG&E) and made reference to a false amount of money owed.

Utility officials with the City of Edmond said they will never request credit card information over the phone. So if you received one of these calls, you're urged to write down the number and report the incident to police. Also, do not share any private information with the caller.
