Firefighters have contained a fire at an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City, Friday afternoon.
According to the fire department, just after 1 p.m., crews responded to the fire at the Warrington Apartments, in the 12700 block of N. MacArthur. Firefighters reported seeing heavy smoke coming out of the apartment building when they first arrived.
Crews were able to get the fire under control. No one was injured.
Fire officials said the fire started in a second-floor unit. A total of eight units sustained damage in the fire.
According to officials, only one person out of all eight units was home at the time. That person was in a first-floor unit and said he tried to fight it with a fire extinguisher. But the fire was getting out of control. That's when he called authorities.
The cause is under investigation.
