FOREST PARK, Oklahoma -

The small metro town of Forest Park was rattled as police investigated a murder. A 53-year-old man was gunned down inside his own home.

"It was just crazy, I was actually scared because really nothing really happens like that over here," said Chanel Ward, whose mother lives near the crime scene.

Police cars surrounded the area on Saturday after getting the call around 10 a.m. when relatives of the man, who lived inside a home in the 3200 block of Norcrest Drive, came by to pick him up to go to a funeral in Clarksville. But instead, they were met with another death in the family when they saw the front door was cracked open and the body of Anthony Lewis was found.

Anthony's sister and cousin made the gruesome discovery. They said he lived alone, was not married and didn't have any children, or enemies.

Detectives searched for any clues around the house.

"We're doing some additional crime scene work to try and eliminate tire tracks that we found in the yard," said Donell Matthews, Forest Park Police Chief.

"Investigations where you have someone deceased with no witnesses on the scene, they take some time."

Neighbors said they saw Anthony outside the day before, but never heard any gunshots later that night. Like the family, they said they want to know why the shooting happened.

"It was a shocker to see the police cars there," Ward said.

"I hope y'all find out who did it, because like nothing like that ever happens like that over here."

This was the first homicide in Forest Park in 2014. So far, there are no suspects in this case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Forest Park Police at (405) 424-1212.
