A new report says if you want to make more money at work, just simply ask for it.

For most of us, walking into the boss' office is nerve-racking enough. Turns out, a new survey says we should relax, because it's pretty easy to get a bump in pay.

Glamour magazine surveyed 2,000 men and women. Three out of every four women who asked for a raise usually ended up getting it. But 39 percent of women say they have asked for a raise when starting a new job. That's compared to 54 percent of men.

The survey says it's not so much about the money but showing you believe in your ability. There are some things to keep in mind. These come from the Protocol School.

Think about timing. If your company is making its goals and you helped, it could be the right time to ask.

If you feel your accomplishments are being overlooked, it's appropriate to ask for a meeting to talk about being compensated.

Also, you'll want to ask for that raise with confidence.

One thing to avoid is bringing in how much your co-workers makes. Instead, make your point to your boss on why you deserve that money.
