Polls are now open for Oklahoma voters to cast ballots on Election Day.

For the first time since statehood, both of Oklahoma's U.S. Senate seats will be on the ballot. Republican U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe is seeking re-election to a full six-year term, while Republican James Lankford, Democrat Connie Johnson and an independent are running to replace U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, who is stepping down with two years remaining on his term.

The race for Oklahoma's top educator is considered by many to be the most hotly contested office on the ballot Tuesday. The latest exclusive News 9 poll shows the race for state superintendent is neck and neck.

Democrat John Cox is trailing Republican Joy Hofmeister by 2 percentage points, but that was within our poll's margin of error of 3.2 percent.

In Oklahoma's U.S. House delegation, Republicans also have a good chance to stay in control. Representative Markwayne Mullin is favored in eastern Oklahoma. Tulsa-area GOP candidate Jim Bridenstine is unopposed.

Governor Mary Fallin is also considered to have the lead in the race against Democratic challenger Joe Dorman.

Democratic candidates will appear at the top of ballots when Oklahomans go to cast their votes. A drawing held in July determined which party will appear first on ballots for the next two years. State election law says a drawing must be held every two years to determine the order.

There was also a drawing to determine the order for Independent candidates.

Fewer than 50 percent of Oklahoma's 2 million registered voters are expected to vote in the general election.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
