After demolishing Iowa State on Saturday, Oklahoma begins to prepare for a massive home game against Baylor this week. Saturday's contest could do a lot to shape the Big 12 title race as well as Baylor's College Football Playoff hopes. Monday, OU coach Bob Stoops and players met with the media to discuss this week's matchup with the Bears.

-Offensive tackles Daryl Williams isn't completely opposed to the string of 11 a.m. kickoffs the Sooners have been on recently. Saturday's game will be the fourth straight for OU. But Williams said the only bad thing is waking up at 7 a.m. and said the early kickoffs prevent any anxiousness from setting in.

-Even though Oklahoma ran for 510 yards on Saturday, Iowa State still managed to stuff the Sooners on a couple of short yardage situations. Running back Samaje Perine said the problems dealt with missed assignments, something the Sooners will have to correct in practice this week.

-Stoops said the offensive line and Aaron Ripkowski were named players of the game for Saturday. The execution of the line as well as Ripkowski paved the way for the OU running backs and Trevor Knight to run free all day through the Iowa State defense. Stoops emphasized once again that it's the execution that makes things work, not the play-calling or game plan.

-Stoops said he hadn't even considered having the Sooners wearing the home version of the alternate uniforms against Baylor on Saturday. You get the impression the media brings a lot of stuff to Stoops' attention. He's just got a lot on his mind, I guess. Stoops said he would talk to the team captains and see if that's something they'd want to do, as well as check with Joe Castiglione to make sure it's even possible.

-When it was pointed out his relationship with kicker Michael Hunnicutt was greater than that of other coaches and their kickers, Stoops said he felt he had always had a good relationship with Oklahoma's kickers and punters. He joked he had always loved the kickers and punters back when he was a player at Iowa as well.

-Stoops said he wasn't sure on Sterling Shepard's condition, but indicated it appeared to be a very minor strain on Sunday. Stoops also said Keith Ford could have played if he didn't play running back, but the quick cutting on his broken leg means Ford has to pretty much be 100 percent. Stoops said the staff felt Ford wasn't quite there on Saturday.

-The wide receivers played pretty well on Saturday without Shepard, but Stoops was quick to point out the group had too many drops and had several missed assignments on blocking and routes. Stoops did say he was pleased with how hard the group played.
