Laws to expand gun rights and help combat domestic violence in Oklahoma went into effect over the weekend. About 250 laws were approved by the State Legislature and signed by the Governor this year.

Now if you already have a conceal carry license, the new law doesn't affect you. But if you plan to apply for one, you have to do that within three years of taking a gun ownership class.

If you finished the training before November 1, but you still haven't applied for the conceal and carry license, you will have to retake the course. Once you've finished, you can apply for a five year or a ten year license.

The law was designed to keep the skills of licensed gun owners up to date with the latest rules and regulations.

Another measure makes it legal for a person who is licensed to carry a gun to store it out of view in a locked vehicle when the car is left unattended on school property.
