Oklahoma City Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the 900 block of S. Fairmont Avenue Saturday just after 6 a.m.

Crews arrived on scene where flames were shooting 15 to 20 feet in the air from the back of the home. Fire crews told News 9 they had to initially take a defensive stance and knock down the fire without going inside the structure. After the flames were put out, firefighters went inside to take care of any remaining hot spots.

Battalion Chief Tony Davis told News 9 electrical crews also had to respond to the incident because a power line was down at the scene.

There was one person inside the home at the time, but they got out safely with no injuries, according to Davis.

Davis said the home was apparently used for storage. About 25 percent of the home was damaged and nearby outbuildings were completely destroyed because of the fire.

The cause is still under investigation, according to Davis.
