OKLAHOMA CITY -

Two business partners breathed new life into an Oklahoma City diner. Kaiser's closed its doors last fall, but starting Saturday, the century-old diner will be back in business.

It'll be the same Kaiser's you remember with a few updates.

“Little Things were kind of falling through the cracks and so we basically just brought it back up to what it was, made it look brand new again,” said co-owner Kristen Cory.

Deemed a historical building in 1993, co-owners Kristen Cory and Randy Giggers wanted to preserve as much as they could by keeping the original tin ceiling, tile, and replica stained glass windows.

“The can expect to walk in to see a place they saw when they walked in when they were five, six, seven years old. The ice cream is still homemade. It's all the same,” she said.

Randy, the head chef, also gave the menu a makeover too. Steaks and salads were added to the menu. But the staples, like a good ole fashion burger and a sundae, are still there.

It was a quick turnaround for the duo after buying the place in September. They said many are anticipating the doors to open again.

“We have people that are constantly walking up to the doors looking in the windows seeing what we are doing, telling us ‘I used to come here as a child. My mom worked here she's in one of these pictures'. People are really excited to see it back to what it was … what they remember it.”

Kaiser's grand opening celebrations will go on from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Part of the proceeds from ice cream purchases at that time will benefit the Lupus Foundation.
