A homeless man is accused of arson after Oklahoma City firefighters responded to several fires in trash cans, dumpsters, and cars, all in the area of NW 39th St. and Pennsylvania Ave., last month.

Residents in the area claim they witnessed 50-year-old Donald Sulier commit the acts of arson.

"Everybody around here knew what he was doing," said Jeremy Dunsworth.

Dunsworth said he put out a few of the fires. Most recently, Dunsworth pulled a burning material from a car on NW 39th. St. and called the fire department. Fire investigators added that car fire to a list of suspicious fires in that area.

"To have that many vehicle fires and trash fires in such a small concentrated area is abnormal," said Battalion Chief Randy Williams of the fire investigative unit.

Williams said investigators pieced the case together for two weeks before they got a break in the case. Investigators recovered surveillance camera footage of Sulier in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 3900 block of Pennsylvania Ave. The video showed him walking toward the dumpster minutes before it caught fire.

Sulier was arrested in that case. Although, he has not cooperated with investigators, they expect additional complaints to be filed against him. He is being held in the Oklahoma County Jail on two counts of arson and one count of arson - endangering human life. His arrest is offering some relief to residents in the area.

"I'm glad, because I don't want anything over here catching on fire," Dunsworth said. "He's a danger to everyone."
