A police standoff in southwest Oklahoma City has ended after a suspect was taken into custody Tuesday morning.

There was a large police presence in the area of S.W. 27th and Portland. According to Captain Dexter Nelson with the Oklahoma City police, bail bondsmen were attempting to serve a drug and robbery warrant inside a home at that location.

At some point in serving the warrant, shots were fired in front of the home. However, police said it is unclear at this time who opened fire.

No one was injured in the shootings. Police said they detained two women who were inside the home for questioning. But a male suspect barricaded himself inside the house just before 7 a.m., according to police. That's when the standoff began.

Oklahoma City police's Tactical Team responded to the scene to assist with the situation. As a precaution, several homes in the area of S.W. 26th, S.W. 27th and S.W. 28th were evacuated.

Police blocked off the area as they investigated the scene. Just before 11 a.m., officers arrested the suspect, 33-year-old Anthony Bruce. He was taken into custody on the warrants, and police said he will face several more charges related to the standoff.

Police said they are also questioning the bail bondsmen who were attempting the serve the warrant.  According to Oklahoma City police, bail bondsmen regulations require local law enforcement to be notified. However, in this case, local law enforcement wasn't notified.

The standoff took place a block from Pierce Elementary School. The school was under a lockdown. Several teachers who arrived at the school early were asked to stay put.

There was no student at the school. School does not officially start until 8:20 a.m. However, as a precaution, school officials asked parents to hold off on dropping off their students or allowing students to walk to school until further notice.

According to a spokesperson for the Oklahoma City Public Schools District, after the standoff ended, officials decided that school will be closed on Tuesday at Pierce Elementary. Classes will resume at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday.
