The family of a man found dead inside his burned home in southeast Oklahoma City is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Police said 69-year-old Charles Sallis Junior was murdered in his home in April.

It's been more than six months since his murder, and family members from as far as Illinois are looking for closure.

Raymond Sallis, the brother of the victim, told News 9 there are no new leads in the case. They're hoping this reward will help track down his brother's killer.

“It was just as much of a shock to us as anybody else,” Sallis said.

Sallis said his brother Charles was the only family member who lived in Oklahoma, and since his murder, all the family knows, most of whom are in Tennessee, Mississippi and Illinois, is what they're being told by Oklahoma City detectives.

“Only thing that we know is that he was shot in the back of the head," said Sallis. "That's the only thing that we know.”

The medical examiner does confirm a gunshot wound to the head as the cause of death. Raymond said after his brother was shot to death, he was set on fire, the family believes to destroy the evidence in his southeast Oklahoma City home.

“He was on the couch, right by the front door,” a neighbor in April said.

Neighbors said days before the house fire, there was an argument between Charles and another neighbor, but investigators have yet to connect that argument to the murder of Charles.

“They were drinking and partying, so they could have just been having fun and being loud, I don't know,” the neighbor said.

“We're hoping that we'll just fish out somebody, somebody will have information on who did this,” Sallis said.

Anyone with information relating to the death of Charles Sallis Jr. should contact the homicide hotline at 405-297-1200.
