OKLAHOMA CITY -

Last year, a veterinarian removed a four-inch blade from the head of Lucy, the beloved guard dog at Beck's Garage. Her owners, Jeff and Theresa Beck, said people continue to stop by the garage to check on the pup, so they asked News 9 to share her update.

“Probably the best scenario," said Jeff Beck. "It was a quick recovery. She didn't sustain any long term injuries or any damage to her vision.”

It happened last year while Lucy was guarding her home at Beck's Garage on N.W. 42nd Street and N. Western Avenue.

Her attacker, trying to escape after breaking in next door, hopped the fence only to be greeted by a pack of guard dogs.

Police think her attacker was Paul Edward Factor. Factor racked up a slew of charges that night including one count of cruelty to animals.

The next morning, the Becks found Lucy with a knife stabbed in her face just below her left eye.

Jeff said Lucy's recovery was speedy but expensive, and now only a faint scar remains.

A year later, people still drop by the shop to check on Lucy.

“We were kind of pleasantly surprised by the support, the concern, the comments, people calling, people coming by with dog treats,” Beck said.

Treats like premium ground chuck beef to grill up for Lucy.

Next Wednesday, Lucy's alleged attacker will be in court for a preliminary hearing.

“We are glad that even though it's taken a length of time, we're glad to eventually see accountability," said Beck. "People being accountable for their bad behavior.”

Despite the wait, the Becks remain thankful to have their trusty guard dog still by their side.

Beck said while he would never wish harm to anyone, he also said don't mess with his family and don't mess with his dogs.

Factor's attorney told News 9 his client remains innocent, and he looks forward to his court hearing to clear his name.
