Posted: Updated:

Kevin Durant held his first press conference Tuesday morning after undergoing successful foot surgery.

On October 16 Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant underwent successful surgery to address a Jones fracture in his right foot.

The Thunder, Durant and his representatives jointly decided for surgery to be performed by Dr. Robert Anderson with Thunder medical personnel present at the OrthoCarolina Foot and Ankle Clinic in Charlotte, NC. Durant will be re-evaluated in six weeks, at which time a further update will be provided.

During the press conference, Durant discussed the surgery saying "I have never had surgery before, this is my first time."

Durant said that everything is progressing and he is looking forward to the next few weeks and getting better. He said he is "Not going to rush it. Going to take my time with it."

When asked how his mom is handling his surgery, Durant said she has been there for him. She was there before the surgery and after.

"I feel like I need a bell every time I need something," Durant said.

As far as his team goes Durant stated over and over again that he tells his teammates to "Be who you are. Nothing needs to change." He said that Russell Westbrook is stepping up and being more vocal. Durant is happy with where his team is and said he will do what he can to help the team from the sidelines.

The 2013-14 NBA MVP appeared in two games during the 2014-15 preseason, averaging 11.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.50 steals in 15.0 minutes.
