OU's football chaplain was arrested Wednesday after he attempted to obtain prescription drugs by deceiving a Norman man and gaining access to his home.

According to court records, on Oct. 15, 45-year-old Kent Bowles went to a home in the 2000 block of Morning Dew Trail and told the homeowner he represented the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Records show Bowles told the man Ferguson GMC would make a donation to the FCA for every 100 test drives.

Cleveland County authorities said the man agreed to the test drive, and Bowles told him he must drive the vehicle approximately five miles before returning home. They said Bowles also volunteered to stay inside the home while the man took the test drive.

Records state the man contacted his wife to tell her Bowles would be at their home when she returned, but the wife became suspicious and watched Bowles go through their home via a security live stream on her phone.

She told her husband about Bowles' suspicious behavior, and the man returned home and found Bowles in a different area of the home than where he was told to be, according to authorities.

Authorities said they collected several types of pills from Bowles pockets, including Oxycodone and Hydrocodone.

Records state Bowles is facing the following felony charges: larceny from a house, possession of controlled dangerous substance, knowingly concealing stolen property and obtaining or attempting to obtain property by trick or deception.

Ferguson GMC management said a car was made available to the FCA, but there was not an arrangement “negotiating a set number of test drives per donation to FCA,” according to court records.

Norman police said they do not believe this is an isolated incident.

If you or someone you know consider yourself a victim of this fraud, call the Norman Police Department at 405-321-1444. If you live outside the city of Norman, please call your local police jurisdiction and reference this Norman incident.
