Emergency responders were called to the scene of an accident involving an overturned cement truck on the northbound side of Lake Hefner Parkway, near Britton Rd., Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic on the Parkway was completely shutdown as far back as the I-40 junction as crews worked the scene. Traffic was diverted at NW Expressway.

Authorities said a tire blowout caused the cement truck to roll over.

From the air it appeared that two other vehicles may have been involved in this accident. EMSA was on the scene and transported the driver of the cement truck away in good condition.

The wreck caused cement to spill out onto the highway and road crews had to spray the roadway down with a solvent to dilute the material. Three tow trucks were finally able to flip the cement truck upright and get it out of the middle of the highway just before 5:40 p.m.

As of 6:30 p.m., traffic was allowed to resume using the expressway.
