Sports fans at Buffalo Wild Wings were drinking and eating their sorrows away Sunday after hearing about Kevin Durant's injury.

“I was surprised, and I'm just curious to see who's going to start in his place, what we're going to do without him,” Tyler Smith said.

Most Thunder fans agreed, KD is the heart and soul of the team.

“He brings excitement just to watch him play,” Donnis Roberts said.

“Just the energy that he gives the team and the confidence…” Will Johnson added.

“He brings a great deal of leadership,” Steven Sexton said.

And it's that leadership, energy and excitement fans said they'll miss at the start of the season. “A lot of people will be very disappointed,” Johnson said.

He'll be missed by fans and the team. Most people at the sports bar told News 9 they think the Thunder will take a hit while KD is out.

“There's good pieces of the team, it's just that Kevin Durant is the center of the team," said Smith. "It's just going to be hard to lose him.”

It's going to be hard to lose him, but some Thunder fans said the other players will make up for the temporary loss. More specifically, Russell Westbrook will take over the starring role.

“He's definitely going to step up to the challenge," said Johnson. "He'll get it done. I'm sure he doesn't mind shooting the ball a little bit more."

“It's a good thing we have a strong point guard that can carry the team, and, you know, someone that can fill in for him when he's gone,  and hopefully we can weather the storm and get him back healthy," said Chase Brewer. "That way, when the playoffs start, we don't have any more mishaps.”
