Oklahoma City police are looking for a thief who hit two Oklahoma City convenience stores within an hour of each other. He not only had a gun but was also wearing a Halloween mask.

This thief took the spooky spirit of the holidays way too far when he decided to use masks to disguise himself during his hold-ups.

News 9 spoke with one of the clerks who came face-to-face with the masked man and his gun.

"And I thought it was a joke, because, you know, I know a lot of people. So, I thought it was a joke,” said the clerk, who did not want to be identified. “So, I started laughing at him. I was like, 'Man, stop playing with me and stuff.'"

It turns out the robbery at the May and N.W. 12th convenience store was no joke.

The robber came around the shelves and showed the clerk the gun he had in his hands.

At first, the clerk refused to give him any money, even with the gun pointing right at him.

“I was like, is that a fake gun? Because I think it's fake,” said the clerk. “And then when he pointed it at my eyes, I was like, I don't want to find out if it's fake or not. That's it!"

Then, even with surveillance cameras rolling, the robber threatened his life.

"He's like, I am going to shoot you if you don't, and so when he pointed that gun at me, I was like OK let me just give him the money," the clerk said.

At the May Avenue location, the clerk said the robber was wearing a Halloween mask that looked similar to a skull mask. Police said there was also a robbery involving a Halloween mask at a south side location just an hour before. Although, in that case, the robber was wearing a mask that looked like a devil mask.

That robbery took place at the Q Mart, located on S.E. 59th Street, a store that has been held up before. In this case, the devil-masked robber forced the clerk to the ground by grabbing her hair, and then hit her in the head before he took off running to the apartments located across the street.

In both robberies, police are looking for a black, older model SUV with custom Chrome wheels. Police don't know if the same man is responsible for both, but the fact that Halloween masks were used in both sure makes it look suspicious.

If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
