A boundary to our north across southern Kansas, and moisture moving in from former Hurricane Simon, is allowing for showers and thunderstorms in our panhandle and far northern counties Thursday evening.

Skies will remain cloudy for the rest of us with overnight lows dropping to around 70 degrees.

Shower and storm chances pick up for the metro after midnight. The timing of the cold front is going to be hard to nail down, but best chances for the front to move through look like Friday morning.

With the cold front coming in early, our afternoon high temperatures may not make it out of the upper 50s. Temperatures south of the front in southern Oklahoma may still see mid 80s Friday afternoon. There will be a significant temperature difference from north to south.

The day looks dreary for everyone with cloudy skies and the chance for rain lingering during the day and night. Make alternative outdoor plans and keep a jacket and umbrella handy.

Rain showers should end early Saturday with afternoon highs climbing into the low 60s. We recover to the upper 70s on Sunday under partly cloudy skies. Our next chance for showers and storms will arrive late Sunday night.
