New Details On String Of Auto Burglaries In Edmond

A string of vehicle break-ins last month led to the arrests of three men in Edmond. Now we're learning about the dozens of items police say they stole.

Police found 18-year-old Vann Thompkins, 24-year-old Wesley Bennett, and 21-year-old Andrew Blaylock sifting through a large pile of personal belongings on the 1500 block of South Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. Sept. 24.

Police say the men admitted they'd been smoking pot, and one of them admitted he was keeping stolen items at his apartments. Police say they found all kinds of stuff there, including guitars, cellphones, laptop computers, and even half of a wooden City of Edmond sign.

The suspects are now charged with several felonies each. Kyle Walker says he knows one of the suspects.

“Whenever you start breaking into people's cars, that's just criminal. No one has a right to do it. They're not only taking people's property, but piece of mind,” he said.

Edmond Police say the thieves stole from people who left their vehicles unlocked on a street just south of Edmond Memorial High School.
