My 2 Cents: Concern Over Ebola Diagnosis In Dallas

So, we are now learning 12 to 18 people in Dallas came into contact with Thomas Duncan, the Liberian man now hospitalized with the deadly Ebola virus.

And maybe even more worrisome is the fact that five school-age children had contact with him.

Now, that doesn't mean they have the Ebola virus.

Mr. Duncan might not have been as contagious when they came into contact with him, but the mere thought of five children possibly exposed to Ebola and then going to school.

A letter sent home to parents at one of the schools read, "one of our students may have had contact with an individual who was recently diagnosed with the Ebola virus."

As a parent, you can imagine how scary that would be.

As soon as word started spreading, some parents started picking up their kids and taking them home.

The Dallas School Superintendent tried to reassure them that since none of the students had symptoms, he's pretty confident that none of the kids were exposed.

I talked to a friend, a father of two school-aged kids, who lives less than a mile from this Ebola scare in Dallas.

His children don't attend any of the four schools in question. He said the situation is unsettling, but he hasn't seen any kind of panic about it.

That's good to hear.
