New Details Surrounding Deadly Workplace Attack In Moore

The suspect in the Moore deadly workplace attack could be released from the hospital as soon as Wednesday.

Cleveland County District Attorney Greg Mashburn said Alton Nolen will likely face the death penalty for beheading one co-worker and stabbing a second.

More than 25 witnesses are listed on the court affidavit released Tuesday. Police said Nolen is being cooperative and forthcoming with investigators answering all their questions.

Court documents show 30-year-old Nolen said he intended to behead people during his rampage.

“There were three different people that he had on his mind that had oppressed him, and they were of different races, and different genders,” said Mashburn.

According to the affidavit, Nolen went back to his home Thursday to get a large bladed knife. He returned to Vaughn Foods with that knife in his shoe, went into the processing plant and walked to the office where 54-year-old Colleen Hufford was standing.

The affidavit revealed Nolen grabbed the grandmother from behind and immediately began cutting her across the throat.

“He was using some Arabic terms during the attacks, and certainly that's one of the many reasons why the FBI is involved at this point in time,” said Mashburn.

After beheading Colleen, Nolen came into contact with Traci Johnson. The document said he cut her across the throat and cut the side of her face with the knife before being shot by off duty Oklahoma County reserve officer, Mark Vaughn.

Vaughn is also the Chief Operating Officer of the processing plant.

Police said Nolen wanted revenge after an exchange with Traci earlier in the day.

“From my understanding, there was an altercation about him not liking white people, there was some back and forth conversation with Mrs. Johnson and that led her to make a complaint with the HR department,” said Mashburn.

Mashburn said Vaughn wasn't the only one involved in ending the attack. There were multiple attempts by several people to stop Nolen.

“They tried chairs, they tried kicking, they were trying to help their coworker,” said Mashburn.

Mashburn said more charges could be coming. As far as a terrorism charge, the FBI continues to look for any links Nolen may have to any terror organizations.
