A semi-truck crashed into a college softball team's transport bus, leaving four students dead and at least six others injured.

Four young women lost their lives after a semi crossed over into southbound traffic.

The accident happened around 9 p.m. on southbound Interstate 35 near mile marker 47.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a northbound semi-truck departed the roadway, entered the center median, crossed over the center median and then hit the school bus.

That bus was carrying a softball team heading back to North Central Texas College in Gainesville, Texas.

Three died on scene, and the fourth at an area hospital.

News 9 was told there were numerous injuries, including six who were transported by ground ambulance to Ardmore. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Two other players were flown from the scene by air ambulance and taken to OU Medical Center. Three were transported to Paul's Valley hospital along with the semi-truck driver.

One student was transported to Arbuckle Memorial Hospital in Sulfur, were she was later pronounced dead.

There were 16 passengers on the bus including the driver.

OHP said this accident is being conducted as a vehicle homicide investigation.

The driver of the semi-truck made a statement, but OHP cannot reveal what was said at this time.

We have not received an official statement from North Central Texas College; however, officials did post a statement on the college's Facebook page asking for prayers for the softball team.

The school also canceled a varsity volleyball tournament scheduled at the college shortly after the accident.

OHP reported Saturday morning that all lanes on Interstate 35 have been reopened.
