OKC Man Arrested For Assaulting Officers
OKLAHOMA CITY - An Oklahoma City man was arrested for assaulting two police officers early Wednesday morning.
The incident happened at about 12:30 a.m. According to police, two officers were driving in the 300 block of S.W. 59th Street when they saw a man, later identified as 29-year-old Anthony Paulson, trying to hide behind a dumpster at an automobile body and detail shop.
Officers said they saw auto parts in the parking lot of the business. They suspected that Paulson was trying to steal the parts.
Officers confronted Paulson and found out that he had a large metal wrench attached to his backpack. However, while they were questioning Paulson, he reportedly took off running.
According to police, the officers were able to catch up with Paulson as he tried to climb a fence. That's when Paulson hit one officer in the face and punched the other one in the mouth.
Paulson reportedly continued to resist arrest and assault the officers. He attempted to choke one officer and even bit that officer in the hand, causing it to bleed.
After a struggle, officers were able to take Paulson into custody. While being transported to the hospital to be checked out, police said Paulson slammed his head twice into the cage that separates the back seat from the front seat of the patrol car. He reportedly told police that he was possessed by demons.
After being cleared by medical staff, Paulson was booked into the Oklahoma County Jail on multiple charges, including assault and battery on a police officer, transferring body fluids (due to the bite,) resisting, obstructing an officer, and more.
