A man threatened with death by two gun-toting robbers in northwest Oklahoma City last week is opening up about his close call.

"I've been in this neighborhood for twelve years or so," said Kendale Turner. "I've always walked around, skateboarded, and no one has ever messed with me."

But Turner said there was no getting around what he encountered near the intersection of N Britton and Western on his way home from church.

"Two guys hopped out and they asked, 'do you have a phone?' and I said, 'no' and they were, like, 'we are stranded,'" recalled Turner, a couple of days later. "So, me being kind, I was, like, 'Okay. I guess I will help.'"

So, around 9:30 Wednesday night, Turner tried to escort the men to a restaurant near Military Avenue and Britton Road, but one of the suspects hit him.

"I backed up and tried to run away and then the other pulled a gun on me and told me to stop and get down," Turned explained, "and then the other one proceeded to take the stuff out of my pockets."

Turner said he didn't fight back because the men threatened to shoot him.

"I mean, everyone has their time and I knew it wasn't my time," said Turner.

Instead, he reported the incident to Oklahoma City Police, describing the suspects as two black males driving a gold, four-door car.

"It had to be someone from not around the neighborhood," said Turner, "because everyone knows me -- I'm the one guy who is always on a skateboard."

Turner said all of that could change, in light of this incident.

"I just think it's despicable and they should be caught," said Turner.

A couple of hours after the suspects robbed Turner, police believe they robbed a Nichols Hills woman at her home just a couple miles away.

At last check, police were reviewing surveillance images of the suspects' car, with plans to release them to the public.

Anyone with information is asked to call Oklahoma City Police.
