OKLAHOMA CITY -

Oklahoma City firefighters have put out a house fire just north of the State Capitol building early Monday morning.

According to the fire department, crews responded to the fire just before 5 a.m. in the 800 block of East Eubanks.

Firefighters reported seeing a heavy amount of smoke coming from the house. A portion of Phillips Avenue was blocked due to fire hoses across the street.

According to fire officials, the fire started in a back bedroom and then spread to the attic. Firefighters put out the fire quickly before it spread to other parts of the house. Only the bedroom and attic suffered damage due to the fire.

No one was at the house when it caught fire. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
