Edmond Police: Intoxicated Man Arrested For Trying To Burn Down House

An intoxicated man was arrested after Edmond police said he poured gasoline all over his house and threatened to burn it down.

An intoxicated man was arrested after Edmond police said he poured gasoline all over his house and threatened to burn it down.

According to police, just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the incident at a home in the 1100 block of N. Blackwelder. A woman told police that her husband, 54-year-old Vincent Tipu Malakar, had poured gasoline all over the house and turned on the stove.

The woman and her teenage son were inside the home at the time. Police said when they arrived, Malakar was extremely intoxicated. They determined that he had been drinking vodka. 

Malakar was arrested on arson charges. 

No one was injured during the incident. A portion of Blackwelder near Danforth was closed as police investigated the incident.
