Suspect Arrested After Leading OKC Police On Chase In Stolen Taxi

Oklahoma City police arrested a suspect who led officers on a high-speed chase in a stolen taxi on Monday. 

According to police, at about 11:30 a.m., officers responded to a carjacking report in the area of N.W. 9th and Meridian. Officers spotted the stolen mini-van taxi cab a short time later. The suspect, later identified 30-year-old Michael J. Patton, led officers on a brief pursuit, which was ultimately terminated due to high speeds.

Police said the cab had GPS, so officers were able to keep up with its location. Officers then caught up with the cab in the area of N.E. 11th and Redbud and got into another brief pursuit. The second pursuit was called off again due to high speeds.

At some point during the chase, Patton crashed into another vehicle near N.E. 23rd and Coltrane.

At about 12 p.m., Patton reportedly bailed out of the taxi in the area of N.E. 63rd and Interstate 35. He then fled on foot and tried to hide in a wooded area near Remington Park.

Officers were able to locate Patton and take him into custody.
