The weekend was spectacular.  This week will feature a pattern change in the upper levels of the atmosphere that will allow for an active weather pattern over the central and southern plains for some locations.    A ridge of high pressure will develop over portions of the Rockies.  This will create a northwesterly flow aloft across the central plains that will be favorable for bringing a few disturbances into the state, including today.   This morning a few light showers or areas of rain will continue to be possible across the region for the next few hours as this activity continues moving generally eastward.  The higher likelihood may end up along the I-40 corridor, but there will be some spotty showers and chances of precip northward for the Tulsa metro.

Temps this morning will remain in the mid or upper 60s with mostly cloudy and mild conditions.  This afternoon high temperatures may move into the lower 80s with mostly cloudy sky and a few sun breaks.  A surface boundary to the north of the state will move southward this afternoon and evening bringing a few scattered thunderstorms to portions of eastern OK late tonight.  One or two of these storms may produce some gusty winds, but severe weather is not likely to occur with this front.  This boundary will move southward into the southern third of the state before stalling later tonight or tomorrow morning across the southern third of OK.   This boundary will more than likely lift northward into southern Kansas by Tuesday evening with south winds returning across the area.  Tuesday afternoon temps could stay in the upper 70s to near 80 with mostly cloudy to partly sunny conditions along with east to northeast winds for the first half of the day.

The northwest flow aloft pattern shows signals of another disturbance Wednesday, and then possibly Thursday with some thunderstorm chances across the northeastern portion of the state.   The weekend will also support another cold front approaching the area Saturday night into Sunday morning with increasing thunderstorm chances.  We'll increase the pops for the Sunday morning period for this forecast update cycle.

Thanks for reading the Monday Morning Weather discussion.
