Even More Cooler Air Soon

Welcome to fall.  Yes, I know it's not " official" but we're going to experience some fall-like conditions for the next few days.

 The cold front moved across the state yesterday afternoon on schedule with a few showers and storms.  The Tulsa area missed out on thunder but did experience some brief showers during the evening hours.  Our neighbors across southeastern and east-central OK experienced a few thunderstorms.  We may see a thunder showers lingering this morning across far southeastern OK, but these should move out of the area during the next few hours.  Most of the area will see mostly cloudy conditions through noon to partly sunny conditions by afternoon with northeast winds in the 10 to 20 mph range.  Afternoon highs will stay in the mid-70s today!  And we're just getting started.  Cooler air arrives tonight with another chance of some light rain or spotty showers into the first part of Friday.  This will keep our Friday afternoon highs in the lower to mid-60s with mostly cloudy conditions. 

This morning the boundary is located to our south across part of the North TX and extreme SE OK.  This front may stall for a while before moving southward later tonight as another upper level wave approaches the state.  This disturbance currently diving out of the Montana-Idaho region will cause a few showers to develop near our area later tonight into Friday morning.  The higher likelihood for the precip may end up south or southwest of our immediate areas, but we're going to be in the running for some of the rain.  I would anticipate most of the area being dry by at least the second half of the afternoon as dry air moves across northern OK.  Clouds will eventually clear the state late Friday night allowing some very cool morning lows Saturday.  Some of the valleys across eastern OK may hit the upper 40s with the Tulsa metro around the 50-52 range.  Saturday afternoon highs may barely break the 70 degree threshold along with mostly sunny conditions by mid-morning to afternoon.  Sunday will feature slightly warmer air as the southeast winds return to the area late Sunday night.  Unless something totally unexpected occurs, this weekend will be a five-star early fall preview but we'll probably have some clouds on occasion, more so Sunday.

Our next system will be nearing the state early next week as the upper air flow becomes more from the northwest.
