Power Outage Planned At Will Rogers World Airport

A power outage is planned at Will Rogers World Airport Saturday night in the terminal building. The outage will target the ticket counters and baggage carousels and certain gates. This is part of the airport's new “Checked Baggage Inspection System Project.”

From 11 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday, construction crews will continue the installation of new electrical equipment. That equipment will power the entire baggage inspection system when finished.

Airport officials said the outage will not impact safety or security of the property. Power is set to be restored before early Sunday morning flights.

But all of the construction work won't be completed in this particular time frame. Up to four outages are planned for the next month. Airport officials estimated the project will be completed by September of 2015.
